FOND activities in 2009
"Development Cooperation in Romania:Building FOuNDation for Policy Work"
Financed by the Presidency Fund, the project aim was to strengthen the capacity of the Romanian civil society to engage the Romanian public authorities on development cooperation in order to influence the national policies in the field, as well as to participate in policy debates on development at European level.

December 2008
Study visit - Paris Coordination Sud - a delegation of 5 FOND members visited the French Platform, Coordination Sud (project partner) and other 5 member organizations, which develop projects in the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP), in order to learn more about the activities and projects of Coordination Sud and its members and to identify potential partners for future projects.

Launching the website www.fondromania.org
The website is a great opportunity to find interesting information about internal and external activities in development cooperation field. Its goal is to disseminate information about development cooperation policy and activities at internal and external level. Its complex structure allows the visitors to find more about FOND external representation and the European Commission activity. The FOND members have the advantage to find information related to financing sources, reports and research studies. The website also has a calendar of events that will take place.
Introductory Seminar on the Cotonou Agreement
The event was organised on the 29th January 2009, in Bucharest. The purpose of this seminar was to present a general overview of the agreement emphasizing the political and trade implications for Romania. The speakers invited were Florent Sebban (Department of Foreign Relations of the French Platform - Coordination Sud), Monica Alexandru (Department of Assistance for Development, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Dan Maxim - general deputy director (Department of Foreign Trade, the Romanian Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Commerce and Environmental Affairs). FOND members was informed about this agreement, it was a great opportunity to consolidate the dialogue between FOND and MFA, but also between FOND and others relevant state actors.

FOND celebrated Africa Day - 25th May
The event was organised in partnership with the Civil Society Development Foundation (FDSC), the Refugee Women's Organisation in Romania (OFRR) and Save the Children Romania and included a Seminar on EU - Africa Relations and some activities at the Romanian Peasant Museum.
June 2009
FOND training Policy/ Advocacy Strategy
The event took place on June 18, in Bucharest. This action was a good opportunity to strenghten the Platform Working Group (Policy/Advocacy) and to draft a Policy Paper which will help finalize an Advocacy Strategy for the Platform.
July 2009
FOND Board Retreat - 22/23 July
The main results obtained were an Action Plan for 2009, a FOND schedule in order to realize the FOND general strategy.
November 2009
FOND launched the research paper " It's our turn to help - Development cooperation in Romania"
On the 6th of November the Romanian NGDO Platform (FOND) organised a conference to launch a research paper regarding development cooperation issues in Romania. Among the guests invited at the event there were representatives of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Romanian Ministry of Interior and Administration, the European Parliament, FOND members, mass-media, academia and students. Be an active global citizen! Take action against poverty!
The aim of the project was to raise awareness of young people on the process of eradicating extreme poverty and achieving the Millennium Development Goals through activities that promote non-formal education methods
