The 10th edition of the Romanian Development Camp, 4th - 6th of September 2017, Impact Hub - Bucharest

The 10th edition of the Romanian Development Camp took place between the 4th and 6th of September 2017, at Impact Hub, in Bucharest.

The event was organised in the context of the celebration of 2 years since the moment of the adoption of the new 17 Sustainable Development Goals and aimed at raising awareness in what regards the 2030 Agenda and at initiating a debate connected to the commitments assumed both at national and international level.

The 10th edition of the Romanian Development Camp will be held between the 4th and 6th of September 2017.

The Romanian Development Camp is already a brand event for the national development community, attended by representatives of line ministries from Romania, of state partners' governments, of the nongovernmental sector, academic sphere, media etc.

The event is organised by the Romanian NGDO Platform - FOND, with the financial support of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) - Regional Center for Europe and Central Asia.

We will come back with more details regarding the main topics on the agenda, as well as its exact location.

Save the Date: The 10th Edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum (4-6 December 2017)

The 10th edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum will take place between the 4th and 6th of December 2017.

The event is organised by the Romanian NGDO Platform - FOND, with the support of the European Commission and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme - Regional Centre for Europe and Central Asia and CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness - CPDE.

Study Visit in Oslo, Norway - Supporting the transfer of expertise Romania - Norway

Between the 20th and 23rd of February 2017 two members of the FOND Board - Natalia Budescu and Anemari Necșulescu, along with another two members of the FOND Executive Team - Adela Rusu and Adriana Zaharia will realise a study visit in Oslo, aiming at facilitating the transfer of expetise and good practices between FOND and its members and the representatives of Norwegian civil society organisations with profiles similar to the activities of the Federation, as well as the representatives of the institutional structures involved in implementing development cooperation and humanitarian assistance policies. The study visit is supported through the Programme NGO Fund in Romania - Bilateral Fund.

During the 4 days multiple meetings will be held with the represesentatives of NORAD Agency, RORG-Network, Norwegian Church Aid, FOKUS - Forum for Women and Development, Norwegian People´s Aid and of Norwegian Fundraising Association.

Open Call for Applications for the IXth edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum

It is our great pleasure to announce the launch of the Call for Applications for the IXth edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum!

The deadline for submitting applications is the 10th of October 2016.

The Black Sea NGO Forum will take place this year in Varna, Bulgaria, between the 31st of October and the 2nd of November 2016. This year's edition aims to contribute to the implementation of the "Strategic Framework for Civil Society Cooperation in the Black Sea Region" by promoting an enabling environment for civil society organisations as a prerequisite for regional cooperation and supporting the Black Sea NGO Forum's Working Groups actively engaged in the thematic cooperation areas identified and endorsed by the participants during last year's edition.

For the selected participants, the organizers will cover the following costs: transport, accommodation and meals (lunch, coffee breaks and the welcoming dinner).

The Romanian NGDO Platform - FOND has launched the third round of the Mobility Fund for NGO experts, Romania - Republic of Moldova

The third round of the Mobility Fund is implemented by the Romanian NGDO Platform - FOND, with the financial support of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Romanian development cooperation programme RoAid, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme - Regional Center for Europe and Central Asia (UNDP).

The third round continues the initiative launched by FOND back in 2014, when the pilot round was implemented, followed by the first two rounds of the Mobility Fund.

The project represents a follow-up activity of the Civil Society Forum Romania - Republic of Moldova (2011), when there was highlighted the strong need of creating a mobility fund in order to support the knowledge and expertise transfer between representatives of the civil society from both of the countries.

The general objective of the Mobility Fund consists of the bilateral transfer of experiences, knowledge and good practices between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the strengthening of the dialogue between the two countries, the civil society involvement in the process of formulating public policies, the development of common projects and partnership actions that respond to the European Union integration objectives of Moldova, as well as to the objectives of Romania within the development cooperation framework.

The beneficiaries of the Mobility Fund:

1. For individual mobilities: civil society experts from Romania and Republic of Moldova. The grant is offered to physical entities. An expert can benefit from only one-time financing.

2. For small grants: civil society organizations from Romania and Republic of Moldova.

For the small grants, the deadline for submitting applications was August 29, 2016, 5 a.m.

Applications for the individual mobilities can be also submitted and implemented during the period/ between August - December 2016.

Romanian Development Camp, 9th Edition Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Practice, 4th – 6th of July 2016, Bucharest

The 9th edition of the Romanian Development Camp - “Sustainable Development Goals: Turning words into Practice” (4th -6th of July 2016, Bucharest) was organised by FOND and supported financially by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme – Regional Centre for Europe and Central Asia.

The edition of this year was organised in the context of the new global development agenda, shaped by the adoption of the new 2030 Agenda, aiming at raising awareness on Romania's expertise and good practices as an international donor and involving Romanian institutions, organisations and individuals in implementing these goals at national and global level. The implementation of this agenda will require our mobilization and a more coherent approach in this process.

Within the Opening Session, H.E. Victor Micula, the Secretary of State of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the audience, along with Mr. Doru Mitrana, Global Compact Network Romania, Mrs. Anca Stoica, the United Nations Development Programme - Regional Center for Europe and Central Asia and Mrs. Natalia Budescu, FOND President.

Among the key themes discussed during the plenary sessions and the thematic workshops one can mention: the implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals and the correlation with the national strategic framework, the presentation of good practices developed by Romania in the development cooperation field and the main projects implemented within beneficiary states, the role of youth involvement in the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, humanitarian aid and Romania's expertise in this domain, and last, but not least, how to build a career in international development. 

The Romanian Development Camp is already a brand event for the national development community. Over the years, the event has become a best practice in the region, as it gathers a large and diverse range of national development stakeholders - ranging from representatives of line ministries from Romania and of state partners' government to those of the nongovernmental sector, the academic sphere and media - and engages them in policy dialogue, experience sharing and training, resulting in a better coordination of the national development community able to provide policy recommendations to improve the national policy in this field.

Final Results - "Supporting journalists from Romania in approaching international development subjects" FOND Project

At the end of June the Romanian NGDO Platform – FOND has launched the call for applications for journalists interested in making a study trip for elaborating press materials about the international development cooperation field.

The call was part of the project “Supporting journalists from Romania in approaching international development subjects”, implemented by FOND, with the financial support of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Romanian development cooperation programme RoAid and in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme – Regional Centre for Europe and Central Asia.

The objective of the project is to develop the profile of Romania as an official development assistance donor, through the consolidation of the knowledge of journalists specialized on foreign policy, in what regards the drafting of press materials in the context of the national development cooperation policy and connecting it to the international agenda in the development framework shaped by the new Sustainable Development Goals.

Due to the high number of received applications, the first stage of the selection process was extended, and eventually the first results were published. Out of the 13 eligible applications, 6 were selected for the next selection stage.

The second selection stage consisted of an eliminatory interview. Following the interview, out of the 6 remaining candidates there were selected 3 finalists for realizing the photo-reports: Petruț Călinescu, photo-journalist, who will realize a photo material in the Republic of Moldova; Ioana Călinescu, journalist, who will elaborate a material about the situation in Georgia and Ioana Moldovan, journalist, who will write an articol and will realize a photo material in Tunisia.

The Black Sea NGO Forum, 2nd-3rd of November 2015, Tbilisi - Georgia

The 8th edition of the Black Sea Forum took place in Tbilisi, Georgia, between 2nd- 3rd of November, 2015. This year's edition continued the process of creating a strategical framework of cooperation among the civil society within the Black Sea region. The goal was to draw attention upon the importance of the region at both the European and regional level, to have an active contribution to the regional processes and to support the mobilization of resources for the adoption of the most adequate solutions to the common problems and challenges which have been identified.

Working Meeting dedicated to the preparation of the Black Sea NGO Forum, 2015 edition, 9th of September, Brussels

On 9th September, in Brussels, the Romanian NGDO Platform has organized a Working Meeting which had as main goal the presentation of the Draft Report's conclusions "Enabling Environment for CSOs in the Black Sea Region" (as part of the follow-up activity of the Forum, the 8th edition). This event initiated a debate regarding one of the most important areas of cooperation for the civil society within the Black Sea region and the role of the Forum in the process of sustaining a strategical future framework for the civil society within the region. The meeting was attended by representatives of the main European institutions: the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the European Parliament, the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union and organizations/ think-tanks such as: CONCORD, European Policy Center, ALDA-The European Association for Local Democracy and Open Society Justice Initiative. The results of the meeting will contribute to the preparation of the following edition of the Black Sea NGO Forum (2nd - 3rd of November, 2015, Tbilisi, Georgia).

The Romanian Development Camp, the 8th edition/ 8th 10th of July 2015

During the 8th - 10th July, the Romanian NGDO Platform - FOND has organized for the 6th consecutive year the Romanian Development Camp, the largest national event dedicated to the development cooperation field. The three days of discussions were attended by more than 150 participants from the active nongovernmental organizations in Romania and/or at international level, at the level of ministries, academic sphere, mass-media etc. reunited in a unique space dedicated to open and constructive dialogue.
Entitled "International Development Days", this edition has been a special one, being organized within the framework of the European Year for Development. In addition, this year's edition has been marked by the presence of a special guest, Mr. Simon Maxwell, Senior Research at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), with a career of more than 30 years in the international development field.
On the third day, a fair for the international development projects and initiatives took place. This has been an opportunity for the Romanian NGDO Platform's members to present their projects and results in the field.
The event has been organized by the Romanian NGDO Platform - FOND with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and United Nations Development Programme - Regional Centre for Europe and Central Asia.
